SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Sevier County court docket clerk’s death appears to be a murder-suicide, according to the District Legal professional Common for the Fourth Judicial District, Jimmy Dunn.
On Sunday, a county spokesperson verified that Sevier County Standard Classes Clerk Connie Holt was uncovered lifeless and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is searching into the circumstances encompassing her death.
The TBI explained she and Eric Peters had been uncovered dead inside of their residence on Eagle Check out Travel. Dunn said Peters was Holt’s boyfriend or fiancé.
According to the Sevier County Assistant Mayor for Governmental Affairs, Holt started operating for Sevier County in 1994 and was elected as Clerk in 2002. The news of her dying has the two elected officials as perfectly as friends and neighbors in shock.
“It was incredibly unpredicted. It was anything that no a person would have at any time assumed,” explained neighbor Troy Sellars.
Sellars reported he has known Holt for nearly 3 decades, and added that she was generally friendly and smiling.

On Monday, District Attorney Dunn delivered new info about the circumstance. “The predicament appears to be a murder-suicide,” Dunn mentioned. “Now, the investigation is just commencing, so forensics, all kinds of other things to look at, and so that could establish to be otherwise.”
Sevier County Standard Periods Courtroom is canceled through Wednesday, October 27. That is since of Holt’s passing. “She’s a superior girl. A very good buddy. And we’re heading to overlook her,” Dunn said.
A county spokesperson stated Penny Johnson was sworn in as performing Sevier County Typical Classes Courtroom Clerk on Monday early morning. Johnson will be acting Clerk right up until the Sevier County Commission appoints an interim Clerk. The place is up for election in 2022.
