Text description supplied by the architects. Upside Down Dwelling is an alteration and additions to a one storey Victorian terrace for a growing family of 4 which includes Daisy the golden retriever. An undulating roof form on the new first floor is punctuated with huge west-dealing with skylights that reveal the shifting sky.

A golden and reflective ceiling lining to this sculptural roof kind transforms the house into a large heliostat, drawing mild deep into the floor level locations of the current terrace. The ceiling also functions to animate the household as persons and pets transfer as a result of the area. The act of residing is projected again to the occupants in fleeting approaches – capturing playful interaction and presenting an different perspective of each day life. The gold during the property cheekily references the livelihood of the consumers.

Our response to the short and internet site maximises ground program whilst respecting the shut residing conditions of the neighbours. Personalized screening to glazing all over the upper stage mediates the sights in and out of areas, to assure privacy to adjacent dwellings although maximising light consumption. Huge south-going through window and terrace presents sights of the town, neighbouring rooftops and local trees, while deftly preventing neighbouring private open house. Custom made screening to glazing all over the upper level mediates the views in and out of areas, to ensure privacy to adjacent dwellings even though maximising light consumption.

A new roof terrace to the entrance expands the initially-ground dwelling areas externally, connecting citizens with activity on the avenue beneath. A wonderful present brick chimney is central to the terrace and sorts a solid focal place whilst delivering a perspective of domestic everyday living and Carlton North heritage that is not usually experienced.
